Colourful Reflections

On Monday evening the tide was low and the small clouds to the West looked promising for sunset, with me hoping for those clouds to catch some colour as the sun set.
Initially the sun was still too high and bright for the photos, even with an ND filter attached to lens. I took a few as the sun highlighted the sand patterns left by the receding tide.

While taking the above photo, I noticed the serene scene to my left looking out to sea and still giving nice reflections so I turned the tripod seaward.

By now the colours of the sunset were getting richer and creating great reflections as the sun sank lower. I moved my viewpoint as I noticed better reflection in a different spot.

The colours then improved as the sun sank below the horizon.

I gradually moved around the beach to find best reflection areas and I tried zooming in and out to alter my composition. Then the cloud colours turned more pink and red.

Turning to look out to sea again, I could see a V of pink cloud and it was reflecting in the shallow water and wet sand. Looking at the live view on the back of my camera, I could see that the reflection was strong enough that the V looked like an X when that reflection was included and I managed to keep the lines towards the corners of the composition.

What an evening this was, all this in less than an hour. Two here show the importance of looking around at other viewpoints, rather than just concentrating on the obvious sunset etc.
