My interest in Motorsport started from a very early age (I was first taken to Brands Hatch when I was 3 months old) and my earliest photography was in the early 1970's at Brands Hatch - from the spectator area. That led to me taking photos for and producing a results folder for Nick Whiting for a few years in Special Saloons - great times and great memories.

I also spent a few years as a Marshal at many events, before moving onto being a photographer in 1983. I was 'official' photographer for Racing for Britain and covered a wide variety of events for several seasons.

During that time I attended mainly F3, BTCC, FF2000 & FF1600 events, though I also branched out into Rallycross which also created many great memories - I was lucky enough to make a few trips abroad , including to Finland for the InterNations Cup with the GB Team, plus Valkenswaard Massmechelen, & Alencon mainly Thanks to John Welch.
A few years later, I started attending Motorcycle Grass Track racing as a photographer (having watched a lot of this in my younger years) and eventually drifted into taking pics at Junior events. This led to me getting more ‘involved’ in the Junior part of that sport, assisting 2 riders in particular on their climb through the ranks into Speedway.

I left that sport when their travels around the country became too much to continue to follow and returned to trackside as a photo/journo for the Surrey Mirror local newspapers, covering mainly Brands Hatch events to feature local drivers. One result of this was going to Buckmore Park for Karting in the Winter, as no motorsport at Brands at the time, and soon I was writing about local kart racers for the papers.
After a while, I realised that these racers were getting next to nothing in terms of national coverage as the national Karting magazine really only covered national events well and then added small reports of local racing.
So I started a full colour magazine from scratch, initially called Kent Karting as I covered the 3 circuits in Kent. The magazine grew quite quickly and I gradually expanded it to cover more circuits and changed the title to Southern Karting. Eventually it expanded to covering even more circuits, though that meant increased mileage for me and the need to collate a greater amount of info from organisers further afield - ably assisted by a few helpful guys that wrote reports for me from circuits I couldn’t attend, simply because too many meetings in any one month.

Sadly the financial burden of this magazine became too great and I had to cease publication after 3 wild and eventful years. I had learned more about myself and my abilities within those 3 years and continued to write for the local papers, as my confidence in my writing had grown.
A change of job, forced  by the closure of the company I had been working at for a number of years, in 2012 saw me join Lydd Kart Circuit as Circuit Manager.
Unfortunately, this didn’t work out how I had hoped and I returned to office work in 2013. Later that year I suffered a heart attack, brought on by previously undiagnosed Diabetes and therefore the excessive sugar in my arteries. Triple by-pass surgery followed and several months of enforced reduced physical activity. I returned to trackside over the Winter at Lydd and then at Brands in the following March. In 2015 I had a season pass at Brands and attended many meetings, moving on to acquiring a Press Pass for 2016 and 2017.
A minor stroke in 2017 slowed me up a bit more and I now attend just a very few selected meetings each year, especially enjoying the race events at Goodwood and a few particular events at Brands.

Since 2016, I have written for local papers for Nick Padmore - covering many events for him, even those I cannot attend, mainly by viewing live feeds where possible plus results and lap charts etc and quotes from Nick to help to create the story.
My 'race reporting' can also be seen in my Blog - please see tab in above menu.

2016 - 2018 I spent as photo/journo in my spare time for the Surrey Mirror Group of Newspapers, and attending some Brands meetings plus the Goodwood Revival.

2019 sees me almost at the end of my years of Motorsport involvement, with the odd chance of attending an occasional race meeting. I did however, make it to Goodwood for the Members Meeting in April and what a day that was.

I have also been lucky enough to make it to Goodwood for the Members Meetings in 2021 & 2022, plus the Goodwood Revival (Saturday). The Classic at Silverstone (Sunday) & BTCC at Brands Hatch in May & October.

There are also lists of drivers/riders from F1 and World Superbikes that I have photos of starting from 1983 -   I have a large archive, though those prior to 2005 are on negatives/slides that would require scanning.

British Superbikes will be the next list I produce -

I have photos from several seasons, including James Whitham,

John Reynolds, Niall Mackenzie,Neil Hodgson, James Toseland,

Yukio Kagayama and many more.

My library includes British F3, BTCC, F3000 and some WEC plus lots of

Club Racing & Rallycross. I have photos  that chart the early days from

FF1600 through to F3 etc of Johnny Herbert, Damon Hill, Martin Donnelly,

Towards the end of 2022, I have now started to scan my old slides &

negatives from my archives to produce digital files which I am archive

listing as I go - some of which are being uploaded into Motorsport Albums.

I also have a number of photos 10x8 that have been autographed by their

high-profile drivers - list on Driver Lists tab - prices by agreement.
